The Black Spot
Good afternoon, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere! Pour yourself a Mai Tai and add an extra shot of rum. Today we are in good company for our guest has a tale to tell.
Captain Anse Marcel
“And there I was standing at the edge of my ship looking out into the blue depths of the Atlantic Ocean. Creaking with warning, Lady Luck swayed in a dance with the Mrs. herself, the sea. A shiver ran up my spine as I felt the darkness of the night wrap it’s frigid fingers around my neck reminding me of the the noose I merely escaped. I heard it in a breathless whisper, my first meeting with fate.
As dark as a siren’s eyes and unbecoming as a pistol without powder, I looked into the palm of my hand. My eyes didn’t deceive. I was marked with the black spot. Cursing to the top of my lungs, I ordered my crew to be steadfast and make haste as the beast was unleashed to hunt.
Everything has a price and we must pay it. I made a bargain with a vile creature in hopes of getting my Lucy back, but the thing about dealing with vile creatures is they always hold true to their word.
Dread pierced my stomach as I heard the rumble from under the sea as if the gates of hell were opening before me. The stench of rotting corpses and salt consumed our thoughts and souls as the creature appeared from the depths. It was time to meet my fate. To stomach my actions and be consumed by the consequences I set sail for.
Everything went black. Breathing in the lifeless irony of what I called my life for the last time, I was greeted by the creature himself. As he smiled in delight, he led me to his locker. Rusted, old, and unforgiving. A place where trapped memories and regrets consume your every thought. A place that keeps you up at night until you can’t remember if you were the greatest pirate of the sea or a dead fish left for the birds.
The thing is, I never left the locker. Thank Circe for rum to drown my sorrows and make me forget. So, cheers you scallywags!
The greatest gift we can give ourselves is facing our fears. Face them head on with bravery by your side and never bargain with a vile creature, or you might end up with the black spot.”

I hope you enjoyed our guest! And I hope you never receive the black spot!
