My Roadmap

Good morning! I hope you are having a great Wednesday with a yummy glass of iced tea and a tasty snack. Grab your map and get ready for a hike through life.

I tie my shoes, hold my head high, and step onto the familiar path I’ve been walking on my whole life. The weight of the world pulls at my shirt and calls for me to stay for another drink around the campfire. I confidently decline and move forward. I’ve climbed mountains, trudged through swamps, and battled the night on this path. I’ve lost friends, seen loved ones struggle, and failed too many times to count. I’ve laid in fields of daisies, watched the sunrise, and swam in the clearest of water. I’ve met the love of my life, reached my goals, and met new friends along the way.

Even at my worst, when my socks were drenched, my hair messy, and my legs too heavy to move, this path has taken me to the greatest place of all, the present. I couldn’t have traveled as far without the help of the people within my life. I owe my stamina and strength to my family, my husband, and my closest friends. I owe my perseverance to my teachers, my coaches, and my mentors. I owe my bravery to myself for always stepping back onto the path and pushing forward.

This path has carved me into the person I am today and continues to mold me with every passing minute. It teaches me the importance of living each day for the new challenges, memories, and invaluable moments I will never get to relive twice. It teaches me life is marathon, not a sprint and to enjoy the small moments of rest.

One day when I need a walking cane and my shoes no longer have soles, I want to be able to look back and view the map of my life with fondness and be proud of the person who decided to never give up. I hope to share the map of my life with my children and grandchildren. I hope to teach them the best way to climb a mountain is with the help of a friend, to always pack an extra sandwich in case you need to share it with someone along the way, and to know that it’s best to stay on your path even if fear rustles within the trees.

I am excited for my next pitstop and I know I won’t be able to get there without my loved ones. I want to thank every person in my life who has helped me along the way, rescued me from hungry bears, nudged me to keep going, and spoke words of encouragement and kindness.

So, as you enjoy a small snack on this hike, think about the people within your life who have helped guide you on your path, the challenges you have overcome, and the exciting new pitstops in your future. I hope you have a great day and to always keep moving forward!

Cheers,

The Daily Paige
